Stockport Homes working with Greater Manchester Police obtain possession of a property.
The Safer Neighbourhoods Team at Stockport Homes Group have successfully secured a possession order of a property at The Bentleys on the Lancashire Hill Estate, following an escalation in reports of serious antisocial behaviour. Working closely with Greater Manchester Police, the Safer Neighbourhoods Team was able to gather sufficient evidence to take legal action against the property and its tenant.
The Possession Order was granted at a hearing at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on 9th May 2024, and came following persistent anti-social behaviour, which was occurring at the property and having a detrimental effect on the local residents and the community. The Safer Neighbourhoods Team and Greater Manchester Police had received complaints of a high number of visitors coming and going from the property, criminal damage, arguments, drug activity, local residents receiving threatening and racial abuse from this tenant. The warrant for possession of the property was executed on 8th July 2024.
Possession of a property is always the last resort after all other options have been exhausted. Possession of this property will provide respite and protection for the residents who were affected by the behaviour, this type of action will reassure residents and the local community, that anti-social behaviour and crime will not be tolerated, and action will be taken against those who participate in this.
