Helping Customers Live Well at Home
Stockport Homes Group is partnering with Greater Manchester Combined Authority on a new project, funded by the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology, to bring smarter care technology into 90 homes across Stockport.
What’s happening?
The goal of this project is to help customers live safely and independently at home for longer, reducing the need for social care intervention. The project has two parts:

Sheltered schemes upgrade: Older hardwired systems are being replaced with digital technology that supports falls detection and tracks humidity and temperature, helping us to better manage homes and ensure customers maintain a healthy tenancy.

Carecall (Technology Enabled Care devices and support) in Brinnington homes: 50 tenancies will benefit from smart care solutions that help to provide reassurance and support for independent living.
A key aim of the project is to ensure customers have access to digital services and to trial these innovative systems while tracking their impact on health, quality of life, independence, tenancy sustainability, and digital skills. This approach also seeks to reduce pressure on public health and emergency services.
Tenants included in this pilot have been assessed by the SHG Independent Living Team, and health outcomes will be monitored for a year. The data will inform scalable, replicable solutions for SHG and provide a blueprint for adoption across the wider housing sector.
