Viaduct Housing Partnership celebrates the opening of Croft House
Viaduct Housing Partnership officially opened its Croft House development in Offerton last week, with a whole range of community members in attendance for the celebratory event.
Alongside Councillor David Wilson and Ms Jeannette Slavinski, Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport, were residents, board members, local councillors and representatives from construction company Vistry Partnerships North West. The scheme is a perfect example of supporting strong, vibrant and healthy communities and enables social affordable housing to continue to operate from the site, working towards the ‘Offerton Masterplan’ and overall regeneration of the area.
Stockport Homes’ internal architectural company, DASH architecture, designed the SMBC scheme which consists 24 affordable rent apartments. The original site was built in 1971 and more recently required on-going, extensive investment works which forced its closure in 2013, so the opening event celebrated the rebirth of an integral component of the local community.
The shop, part of a selection of commercial premises from the original site was the most valuable amenity for local residents, so it was decided an alternative premises was to be provided as part of the project. This saw a disused area of the local community centre, located just moments away, being converted into the shop.
The new scheme contains 100% car parking, juliette balconies, views of the peak district as well as a sprinkler system, district heating system and CCTV.
