Connected Care Project Update: Spotlight on WiFi Motion Sensors

The Connected Care Project Team is continuing work across homes in Stockport, installing a range of Technology Enabled Care (TEC) devices that support customers to live safely and independently for longer.

This week, we’re highlighting one of the devices now being fitted: the WiFi Motion sensor.

What is WiFi Motion?

WiFi Motion provides a privacy‑friendly way to detect real‑time movement in the home without cameras or extra hardware. Using existing Wi-Fi signals, it transforms the home’s connectivity into a smart, non-intrusive safety net.

Both customers and Carecall operatives can benefit from:

  • Quick 8-minute installation
  • Real-time alerts when movement is detected
  • Detailed motion analytics to help spot changes in routine
  • Greater reassurance about safety and wellbeing

This proactive monitoring supports people to stay independent, while giving peace of mind to family members and those who support them.

By rolling out TEC devices like WiFi Motion across Stockport, we’re helping customers stay in their own homes for longer, with greater confidence and safety. These tools also support carers, families, and services by offering timely insights and alerts when they matter most.
